Surgical Devices
-
Amadeo (16)
-
Can handpieces from another manufacturer be used on a W&H surgical motor (Amadeo)?
The programs are tailored to the W&H straight and contra-angle handpieces; straight and contra-angle handpieces from other manufacturers do not have the same degree of efficiency level accuracy.
-
Can other brands of tubing be used?
This is not recommended due to different technical data (materials etc.) as the use of different hoses has a direct impact on the specified and validated coolant volume of 90 ml/min.
-
Does my W&H unit need to be serviced.
Regular servicing of function and safety including the accessories is necessary and should be carried out at least once every three years, unless shorter intervals are prescribed by law. Detailed information can be found in the user manual at chapter "Servicing".
-

If you are not sure what the cause of the problem is, it is better to call the service station and talk to a technician. Together with the technician it can be determined what needs to be sent in and sometimes it is possible to even solve the problem right away.
-
Which coolant hoses can I use with the Amadeo?
Information on coolant hoses (correlation of tubing) can be found in the Instructions for use. A length of 3.5 m is specified for the motor cable, which means that the coolant hose needs to be 3.8 m long. Sterile wrapped disposable suction hoses are included in the scope of supply; these are also available as add-on parts.
-
Does the motor need to be greased?
No, the Amadeo motor does not need greasing. The motor bearings require no maintenance. Any additional greasing would reduce the service life of the bearings.
-
How does it work to wirelessly control the Amadeo?
W&H introduces a new concept in surgery. Via dongles (receiver), which can be connected to the unit by the doctor, the wireless foot control S-NW communicates with the surgical units of W&H.
-
What do the abbreviations ENT and CMF stand for in the pre-set programs?
The ENT program stands for use in Ear/Nose/Throat surgery; CMF stands for Crani/Maxillofacial.
-
The Amadeo and the Implantmed Plus are both suitable for use in CMF surgery. Can the dental motor of the Implantmed (EM-19) also be used in the Amadeo or vice versa?
No, the two motors are not compatible. While the motor of one can technically be plugged into the other, the Implantmed motor will not be recognized by the software on the Amadeo (and vice versa).
-
Is there also a motor with light contacts available for Amadeo as a basis for LED lighting?
No, the motor with the gold contacts was not included in the medical portfolio due to the efficient lighting in operating theatres. Only the WS-75 contra-angle handpiece is also available in the LG version; depending on the speed, it can be used to generate generator-induced light in the contra-angle head.
-
Can wired or wireless foot controls from an Implantmed also be used with the Amadeo?
Yes, the foot controls (S-N2 and S-NW) are suitable for and compatible with both units.
-
Which coolant hoses can I use with the Amadeo?
Information on coolant hoses can be found in the Instructions for use. A length of 3.5 m is specified for the motor cable, which means that the coolant hose needs to be 3.8 m long. Sterile wrapped disposable suction hoses are included in the scope of supply; these are also available as add-on parts.
-
According to the factory settings and the approved intended use, the Amadeo can be used in five surgical applications. Is it possible to only have one/my application on the display, without having the others suggested?
W&H recommends deleting those programs that are not used in the surgical procedure in question (e.g. ENT application -> Insertion of a hearing implant: Deletion of program sequences for ribs/thorax, orthopaedics, spine and CMF).
-
Is it possible to create an individual program sequence that differs from the factory settings?
A further six individual programs can be created in addition to the five specified areas of application in the factory settings. The individual steps can be selected from an existing library and assigned to the new program.
-
Why are there two different screw programs in the factory settings for ‘Ribs and Thorax’ (15 rpm/30 Ncm and 150 rpm/70 Ncm)?
The screw programs were specially designed for the RibLoc System produced by Acute Innovations and are tailored specifically to this application. The two programs differ in terms of the speed and torque; there is a slow and a fast screw-in program already available as a factory setting. In both programs, the parameters can be adjusted on the display and thus can be adapted (including for other osteosynthesis systems).
-
Which service organizations can I contact?
The service organizations are shown on the homepage and are the same as those for the W&H dental products.
-
Can handpieces from another manufacturer be used on a W&H surgical motor (Amadeo)?

Which water quality should I use for my sterilizer?
The water quality for sterilizers is internationally specified by standards and directives. The reasons for this are that your sterilizer can be seriously damaged by it or the sterilization can be jeopardized. Consequently, only water with conductivity of less than 10 µS/cm should be used for your W&H sterilizer. The Multidem system is especially suited to preparing suitable water (see chapter “Water quality” in the Instructions for Use).
